College Football- Week 11

This is the final week of the Division III regular season as the NCAA Division III tournament begins. Anyway, a lot is on the line as Conference Titles Game, or Conference Titles are decided throughout the month of November.

GAME OF THE WEEK: # 19 Mississippi State Bulldogs (7-2, 3-2) at # 12 Alabama Crimson Tide (7-2, 4-2)- 7:15PM in Tuscaloosa
There will be a new BCS National Champion as Alabama lost in Baton Rouge 24-21 last week to LSU. This week, Bama rebounds as they host Mississippi State in a critical game to see who will get to beat Ohio State in a bowl game.
Pick: Alabama 31-21

NEXT WEEK'S GAME OF THE WEEK: Harvard vs. Yale
THANKSGIVING WEEKEND GAME OF THE WEEK: The Game 11.27.10 The Maize and Blue Invasion (Michigan > Ohio State)

KEY TOP 25 GAMES:
Penn State Nittany Lions (6-3, 3-2) at # 9 Ohio State Buckeyes (8-1, 4-1)- at "The Shoe"- 3:30PM in Columbus- UPSET PICK OF THE WEEK
Yesterday, Pennsylvania's native son, OSU QB Terrelle Pryor announced that he would return for his senior season, therefore putting the kibosh on the hopes that Ohio State would just go away into oblivion in 2011. This week, Penn State comes to town, fresh off the 400th victory for head coach Joe Paterno, a first (and possibly only) in Division I (FBS). Penn State came from 21 down to beat Northwestern in the milestone win for Joe Pa. In 2001, Joe Pa broke Bear Bryant's record against the team that Penn State plays on Saturday, Ohio State. The problem with Ohio State is that fans think they are good, but not really. The Buckeyes are an upgrade from senile Woody Hayes and a double-upgrade from the Cooper years, but they are very beatable by Penn State. The last time the Nittany Lions were in Columbus, they did just that in a 13-6 win. Ohio State is out of the National Championship picture (thank God), and the players want to make November "a November to remember". If Matt McGloin plays like he did against Michigan and Northwestern, this will be a November to forget for the Buckeyes.
Pick: Penn State 27-24

# 20 Virginia Tech Hokies (7-2, 5-0) at North Carolina Tar Heels (6-3, 3-2)- 3:30PM in Chapel Hill, NC
Pick: Virginia Tech 34-14

# 14 Utah Utes (8-1) at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-5)- 2:30PM in South Bend, IN (on NBC)
Pick: Utah 37-10

Texas Tech Red Raiders (5-4, 3-4) at # 20 Oklahoma Sooners (7-2, 3-2)- 3:30PM in Norman, OK
Pick: Oklahoma 41-13

# 24 Kansas State Wildcats (6-3, 3-3) at # 17 Missouri Tigers (7-2, 3-2)- 12:30PM in Columbia, MO
Pick: Kansas State 28-21

Michigan Wolverines (6-3, 2-3) at Purdue Boilermakers (4-5, 2-3)- Noon ET in West Lafayette, IN
The Boys in Blue are back...to a bowl perhaps? After last Saturday's win over Illinois, Michigan's season will NOT end against the Suckeyes, as Michigan is now Bowl Eligible for the first time since 2007. In case you missed it, like I did, Michigan survived three overtimes, and 65 points (the most allowed by Michigan in the 132-year history of its football program) by Illinois in a 67-65 triple overtime win, the most combined points in a Big Ten game in conference history. There were more points scored in this year's Michigan-Illinois game than in last year's men's basketball game between the two (a 51-44 Illinois win). Anyway, Michigan takes their absent defense to Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette to play a Purdue team that would like a three-peat win over Michigan. Last year, Purdue stopped a game-tying two-point try in last year's 38-36 Boilermaker win, sending Michigan to a second losing season in a row. Michigan needs this win to save Rich Rodriguez from being fired. Michigan's offensive line needs to protect Denard Robinson, otherwise the Boys in Blue will be Shoelace-less when it counts (Wisconsin's next, then those hated Buckeyes, and then a bowl game). Look for Michigan to pull off a win as Purdue will take advantage of Michigan's non-existent defense.
Pick: Michigan 41-38

Boston College Golden Eagles (4-5, 2-4) at Duke Blue Devils (3-6, 1-4)- Noon in Durham, NC
On Monday, Duke has permanently banned tailgating at football games. Not that that matters, Duke fans are now excited basketball season is here. BC wins this one pretty easily.
Pick: BC 28-13

Indiana Hoosiers (4-5, 0-5) at # 7 Wisconsin Badgers (8-1, 4-1)- Noon in Madison, WI
Last week, Indiana almost upset Iowa. The key word in that last sentence was almost as Indiana dropped a game-winning touchdown pass in the end zone with seconds left in an 18-13 loss to the Hawkeyes. Now, this week, Indiana travels to Camp Randall to play Wisconsin. This game will be over by the end of the first quarter, much like when Wisconsin beat Ohio State.
Pick: Wisconsin 56-0

# 13 Iowa Hawkeyes (7-2, 4-1) at Northwestern Wildcats (6-3, 2-3)- Noon in Evanston, IL
Last week, Iowa almost lost to Indiana (see above in Indiana-Wisconsin). This week, the Hawkeyes travel to the Windy City to play a Northwestern team that blew a 21-0 lead in Happy Valley and surrendered 35 unanswered points in a 35-21 Penn State win, the 400th win for Coach Joe Paterno. This week, Iowa gets back to basics avenging last year's loss to the Wildcats, before next week's showdown with those hated Buckeyes.
Pick: Iowa 31-16

# 23 South Carolina Gamecocks at # 22 Florida Gators (both 6-3, 4-3)- 7:15PM in Gainesville, FL
South Carolina and Florida are in a pivotal and critical game in the SEC East to see who gets to represent the East Division in the SEC Title Game in Atlanta on Dec. 4. The Gamecocks have the edge because Florida is lacking in the vital parts they once had (i.e. Tim Tebow). The Gamecocks have proven they can beat anybody (like then-# 1 Alabama). South Carolina travels down Highway 95 and gets it done. Chomp chomp.
Pick: South Carolina 27-21

# 1 Oregon Ducks (9-0, 6-0) at California Golden Bears (5-4, 3-3)- 7:30PM in Berkeley, CA
Pick: Oregon 49-0

USC Trojans (6-3, 3-3) at # 18 Arizona Wildcats (7-2, 4-2)- 8PM in Arizona
Pick: USC 41-24

# 6 Stanford Cardinal (8-1, 5-1) at Arizona State Sun Devils (4-5, 2-4)- 8PM in Tempe, AZ
Pick: Stanford 42-14

# 25 Texas A&M Aggies (6-3, 3-2) at Baylor Bears (7-3, 4-2)- 7PM in Dallas
Pick: Texas A&M 27-17

# 10 Oklahoma State Cowboys (8-1, 4-1) at Texas Longhorns (4-5, 2-4)- 7PM in Austin
Can you say...trap game? Texas is down, and needs a big win to save what has been a disappointing season, as they lost key players (Colt McCoy, Jordan Shipley) to the NFL.
Pick: Texas 30-20

Miami Hurricanes (6-3, 4-2) at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-4, 3-3)- Noon in Atlanta
Pick: Miami 28-24

Iowa State Cyclones (5-5, 3-3) at Colorado Buffaloes (3-6, 0-5)- 12:30PM in Boulder, CO
There's a new Sheriff in Boulder, as Brian Cabral is the interim head coach for the Buffaloes as Head Coach Dan Hawkins was fired this week after blowing a 28-point lead in last week's 52-45 loss to Kansas, the biggest collapse in Colorado's 121-year football history, and the biggest comeback win in Kansas history. the Cyclones are looking to be Bowl Eligible for the second straight year.
Pick: Iowa State 24-19

Georgia Bulldogs (5-5, 3-4) at # 2 Auburn Tigers (10-0, 6-0)- 3:30PM in Auburn, AL
I'm not going to talk necessarily about the questionably shaky eligibility of Heisman contender Cam Newton, but Auburn is unstoppable.
Pick: Auburn 47-30

Syracuse Orangemen (6-3, 3-2) at Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-4, 1-2)- 3:30PM in Piscataway, NJ
Pick: Syracuse 27-17

# 21 Nevada Wolf Pack (8-1, 4-1) at Fresno State Bulldogs (6-3, 4-1)- 10:30PM in Fresno, CA
Pick: Nevada 41-35

San Diego State Aztecs (7-2, 4-1) at # 3 TCU Horned Frogs (10-0, 6-0)- 4PM
Pick: TCU 47-6

Texas-El Paso Miners (6-4) at # 15 Arkansas Razorbacks (7-2)
Pick: Arkansas 41-7
